Level 21 group's poetry!

Today the Level 21 reading group read a poem called
 "The Road to Milford Sound".

We made our own poem about going to swimming and gymnastics.
The last word of every line had to rhyme.
We are proud of our poem.
When Maisie, Fynn and Tushil read this
to all The Bellbirds we were all
wowed by this marvellous effort.

Don't forget there are new weekly words
for Mrs T and Mrs O's groups again this week.

Our Snail Investigation!

We are learning about snails in the Bellbirds.
We already know quite a bit but we are keen to find out more.
We are learning to ask good questions to find out more.
We are learning to use the words:
When?
How?
Why?
Where?
What?

We are using the internet, videos, books and our observational skills to find out this information.
Can you help us with any facts that you know about snails???

We have learned the special names of the parts of the snail and really enjoyed making some with play dough and drawing them for Art.
We are letting the play dough dry out and hope that they will last for a long time!
We listened carefully as we drew these snails using our new drawing pencils!
We are really pleased with the quality of our work!

Another week and yet another fantastic Bellbird who is Player of the Day in rugby!
Well done Sione!

Feet! Feet! Feet!

We all have feet.
We measured our own feet this Monday  with
cubes
paperclips
counters
We are learning to
ESTIMATE
and then
 MEASURE
Bellbirds are so good at estimating and measuring that we took our skills around the school.
Our team of four experts (Zoe, Caitlyn, Mitchell and Aaron) politely asked if they could measure the teacher's feet.
With shoes on thank you very much!!!!!!!

There were giant feet........ and princess sized feet.

Sporty feet and sweet smelling feet.
Feet that we ESTIMATED would be about the same length.

Some feet were missing today, but we have saved them a template if they want take part in our measuring mission!

"Measuring the teacher's feet was cool" said Phoenix
Mrs T and Mrs O groups have weekly words to practice.

Strike!

WOW!
It was loud.
It was noisy.
Some of us even had to cover our ears!
But it was lots of fun to listen to!

We were lucky enough today to watch the musicians from STRIKE perform their amazing musical talents in the school hall!  They made music with different instruments including different sorts of drums and a marimba. They even made music  using cans of drink  and fire!  We were impressed!

Emma was so excited to share with us her trophy for the most improved player in her rugby team today.  She scored 5 tries on Saturday! Awesome effort Emma!

POETRY COMPETITION TODAY!

Check out these Bellbird finalists!
They are so pleased with themselves.
Lots of butterflies in the tummy
before presenting to the whole school.

Emily and Brearna have only just started school.
What an amazing job.
Olivia had massive butterflies in her tummy.
They went away quickly
and she was so proud to stand up and present.

The Year One and Two winners!!

Well done Maisie (Year 2) and Brearna (Year1)

Check out the medals!

A huge well done to all The Bellbirds
who stood in front of the class to recite their poems.
It is always a hard job to decide the finalists.

A visit to the Ashley Playcentre

A few Bellbirds went for a walk to the Ashley village
 to visit our Playcentre friends.

We made play dough for the children.

We added all the ingredients and shared the mixing.

Warm, new playdough always feels good!

Rachael found the musical instruments.

Sione found a skeleton!!

Lots of good sharing happened.

Emily found fun toys too.

Thank you to Joel's Mum for walking with us.

Next Tuesday the children from the Playcentre
will come to visit us here at school.

Owls, Owls, Owls!!

We have learned a lot about owls over the past two weeks.
Discovery time had many creative choices.
Owls to colour.

Owl masks.

Sam has enjoyed making colourful owls too.
Great job Sam.

We were busy with the hot glue guns
to create owls using tins, old CD's, bottle tops and twigs.

Joel had an idea for us as well.
We used the ink pads to print using our fingers.

Another great week with The Bellbirds working well together.
Everyone is remembering the REACH values.

Week 7 Words!

Here are your Week 7 words.

like

some

so
Please note that these words are not for all Bellbirds! Only if you read in the Literacy space with Mrs.Treacy and Mrs. O'Loughlin.

How about a new goal for you all this week. I noticed some Bellbirds were not picking up their own things and rubbish today.
Other Bellbirds had to do it for them!!!

I checked the goals in
 "The Nest" today.

"Helping keep the classroom tidy" is one of our goals!!

Oops! We all need to try harder.

Can you be a tidy Bellbird?

We can't wait to see it!!!
